"Peacocks are large, colorful pheasants -typically blue and green- known for their iridescent tails. They have been a symbol of wealth, beauty and immortality since ancient times — and a symbol of dangerous pride, as well.

It was near the end of the 1800's that peacocks regained popularity in Western Art. William Morris used the bird in his 1878 "Peacock and Dragon" woven textiles partly because of the popularity of peacocks during the Middle Ages as a symbol of Christ's resurrection, and partly because of their resonance with Islamic design.

Around the same time, a group of English artists and designers known as the Aesthetics was often inspired by the designs of other cultures, particularly Japan and the Islamic world. The peacock, a creature defined by beauty, was one of the prevailing symbols of this movement and continued as a favored motif into the Art Nouveau era."

Utterly gorgeous! I truly wish I had known about this brand earlier. The representation, elegance and not the least the level of detail in these designs I have never seen before.
