The Art Nouveau movement emerged in fin-de-siecle Paris and was showcased at the "Paris Exposition Universelle" in 1900. For a brief time it blossomed into the twentieth century.

Art Nouveau was a new art form, an original artistic and decorative movement inspired by the idea of "total art" which essence is described by sensuous lines and subtle light, feminine figures and curly hair, fluent dresses and attitudes, vegetal curves and willow leaves, twisting waves and evanescent smoke, but also by controlled lines, geometric details, colorful new shapes.

Turn-of-the-century uncertainty fostered a sense of mystery and fantasy in design. Motifs included orchids, irises, pansies, vines, swans, peacocks, snakes, dragonflies, mythological creatures, and the female silhouette.

Our Art Nouveau Fairy Lock pays homage to this influential, brief period in the history of Art.

Wow! All I can say is, wow. This lock is solidly constructed, and so beautifully detailed. There is a whole garden around the tiny, ethereal fairy. It is truly beautiful! I'm also happy that the people involved in the production of Faerybeads pieces are environmentally and ethically responsible about their manufacture. Well worth a little extra cost.

Beautiful lock and very sturdy. I ordered the lock with the Findë bracelet which is a perfect match. Its almost a shame to put beads on it so I only used the adorable Baby Dragon my husband gave me recently. I can't take my eyes off my mini bracelet, it is so gorgeous. Thank you for all the extra's and I am looking forward to the Christmas beads!

This lock is exceptionally beautiful. I am pleased beyond expectation about its execution. My father, having been a goldsmith himself, taught me about jewelry and though I pursued a different career I still appreciate craftsmanship. This lock is the finest example of a double clasp I have seen. I am looking forward to collecting more of these small treasures!

I received this gorgeous lock and can't take my eyes off it. The details are amazing, the fairy's body is so delicate and sensual and I can even see her tiny pointed ears! Expensive but well worth the money.
